The 10am service on August the 29th will be the last for Kedington's Vicar John Eley. Since his arrival in former TV cook on 70's day time show Pebble Mill At One has been a popular character around the village thanks to a generous and enthusiastic nature. When Rev. Eley first took over the Kedington's Rectory the Monastic style of his dress during services raised some interest. It may be less of a surprise there for that John is leaving to move to a new life in a monastery in France where after a trial period he may decide to become a Monk.Since to enter the monastery John must first dispose of all his worldly possession he has asked that anyone intending to give him a leaving gift should make a donation to The Children's Cancer And Leukaemia Group.
At time of writing no new vicar has stepped forwards to take over Johns role as Vicar of Kedington. This will leave the entire Stourhead benefice without a vicar until one can be found. In the mean time a reduced number of services will be lead by members of the laity with occasional visits by vicars from outside the area. Details of services can be found in the benefice news letter available from the church or the post office.
Mean while if there are any vicars in the area looking for a post please contact the bishop.
